Northeast Conference schools remain well represented among the Class A track and field leaders this spring.
Athletes from Deuel, Groton, Hamlin, Milbank, Sisseton and Webster can be found in various event among the leaders.
Sisseton’s Chloe Langager is third in the shot put, while Jacy Dexter of Milbank and Makia Moe of Deuel are tied for fifth in the pole vault.
Deuel’s Josie Andersen is sixth in the javelin, and Sierra Wenzl of Milbank is tied for seventh in the 200. Milbank is also fourth in the 1,600-meter relay, and eighth in the 3,200-meter relay.
On the boys’ side, Hamlin’s Cristhian Rodriguez has the top throw in the javelin, and a pair of Milbank athletes are currently in second: Emmett Hanson in the 110-meter high hurdles, and Samuel Rick in the triple jump. Hanson is also third in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, and Rick is tied for sixth in the pole behind teammate Jayden Johnson who is third.
Webster’s Matthew Mount is third in the shot put and fourth in the discus. Fellow NEC athlete Zac VanMeeteren is third in the 200. Payton Brown of Milbank is fourth in the 3,200-meter run. Deuel’s Oliver Fieber is tied for sixth in the 100 and sixth in the 200, while teammate Robert Begalka is fifth in the shot put. Keegan Tracy of Groton is tied for sixth in the 100.

Tri-State’s Kaleb Foltz continues to set the pace in the 400-meter dash and 800-meter run, and Miller’s Alex Schumacher is fifth in the 1,600 and eighth in the 800. Simon Fried is second in the 300 hurdles, sixth in the triple jump, and eighth in the long jump.
In the girls’ division, Great Plains Lutheran remains second in the sprint medley relay, while Mobridge-Pollock has the fourth best time in the 800-meter relay.
