Central, Groton players earn all-state soccer honors

A group of local players earned all-state recognition on teams announced by the South Dakota High School Soccer Coaches Association.

In the Class AA boys, Aberdeen Central’s Derek Arunasalam was named to the first team, Zander Kuhfeld was named to the second team, and Gavin Yost was chosen for honorable mention.

In Class AA girls, Kaylee Donat and Addyson Salfrank of Aberdeen Central were both selected to the second team.

In Class A boys, Groton’s Gage Sippel and Karson Zak are both first team members.

In Class A girls, Groton’s Mia Crank, Jerica Locke, and Jaedyn Penning are all on the first team, while McKenna Tietz is on the second team.

Here is a look at each of the players on the honor units:

Class AA Boys

First team: Derek Arunasalam, Aberdeen Central; Thad Miller, Brandon Valley; Vincent Radel, O’Gorman; Trent Policky, Rapid City Stevens; Gabriel Schock, Sioux Falls Christian; Oakley McMillen, Sioux Falls Jefferson; Salmonsi David, Opland Sonnichsen, and Brady Stamp, Sioux Falls Lincoln; Seleman Kalifa, Sioux Falls Washington; Juv Banza, Tea Area.

Second Team: Zander Kuhfeld, Aberdeen Central; Forrest Giard, Brookings; Sam Muellenmeister, Mitchell; Zach Heineman, O’Gorman; Joshua Mueller, and Miles Wright, Rapid City Stevens; Tate Carlson, and Kevin Ochoa, Sioux Falls Jefferson; Miles Rolfing, Sioux Falls Lincoln; Xane Fligge, Watertown; Jack Pedersen, Yankton.

Honorable Mention: Gavin Yost, Aberdeen Central; Liam Weide, Harrisburg; Isaac Herrboldt, Sioux Falls Lincoln; Jaxon Dodson, Sturgis; Brax Johnson, Tea Area; Christian Pacheco, Yankton.

Class AA Girls

First Team: Auburn Barrett, and Ragyn Peska, Harrisburg; Lyndy Bortnem, Brinley Groos, and Sydney Terveen, O’Gorman; Jasmine Jost, Pierre; Ava Holzwarth, Avery Dormann, and Lily Schad, Rapid City Stevens; Kinsley Pesicka, Sioux Falls Roosevelt; Eden Wolfgram, Yankton.
