HURON – Playing a bit short-handed, Aberdeen Christian found a way to the finish line Friday night.

The Knights recorded a 25-11, 17-25, 25-14, 17-25, 15-8 non-conference volleyball victory over James Valley Christian.

“I was super proud of the girls for grinding this one out,” said Knights coach Maggie Jett. “We had people playing new positions due to two of our starters out with injury and illness. It was challenging adjusting to a different lineup, but the girls figured it out and never quit, and pulled out the win as a team.”

Mary Fites had a big evening for the Knights. The senior led the squad with 23 kills and also had 15 digs.

Chloe Bosma and Kaylee Block each contributed eight kills in the victory. Block also had 36 set assists.

The Knights were pushed to the limit, but controlled the fifth and final set, jumping out to an 11-4 lead on the way to securing the victory.

“It was kind of fun to see the girls rise to the challenge of different roles,” Jett said. “We definitely missed our players that were out, but I couldn’t be prouder of the team getting the job done.”
