A look back at some of the sports happenings during the week of Nov. 23-29, 2025:
Last year on Nov. 24, 2024: After defeating No. 14 BYU 28-23 and improving to 9-2, Arizona State is ranked 14th in the nation. Leading the Sun Devils was Cam Skattebo, who rushed for 147 yards and three touchdowns. Helping to open holes for Skattebo was Arizona State seventh-year senior offensive lineman Emmit Bohle. The 6-foot-6, 310- pounder is a former NSU and Selby Area standout. Bohle is one of only 35 FBS players who is competing in their seventh year of college football in 2024. He has played in 47 college football games, 25 for Arizona State and 22 for NSU. Arizona State is having one of its best seasons in the history of the program and is tied for first place in the Big 12.
10 years ago on Nov. 23, 2015: University of South Dakota football coach Joe Glenn announced his retirement. Glenn, 66, complied a record of 200-134-1 in 28 seasons as a head coach. He was 12-34 in four seasons at South Dakota.
20 years ago on Nov. 26, 2005: Aaron Busack and Matt Hammer combined for 29 points to pace NSU over Minnesota State 77-63. The Wolves made only eight of 26 shots in the second half to remain undefeated at 6-0.
30 years ago on Nov. 25, 1995: Brock Lesnar of Webster High School is ranked third at heavyweight in the South Dakota pre-season wrestling ratings.
40 years ago on Nov. 23, 1985: Five All- Americans paced SDSU to the NCAA DII national men’s cross country title at East Stroudsburg (PA). Huron native Rod DeHaven was the Jacks’ top finisher in ninth place. Other SDSU All-Americans were Jeff Massman (17th), Bob Wilson (18th), Todd Stevens (20th) and Rob Beyer (24th).
50 years ago on Nov. 23, 1975: After its first football game, McLaughlin had to close its school in September for three weeks due to a meningitis outbreak. Despite the three-week break, coach Jerry Brooks and his McLaughlin football team was still able to get in a full and successful season at 7-2.
