Wings defeat Shamrocks on St. Patrick’s Day

WATERTOWN – The Aberdeen Wings built a 4-1 lead and held off the Watertown Shamrocks 5-3 in NAHL hockey action in a St. Patrick’s Day matchup on Tuesday night.

The Wings received goals from five different players, and assists from 10 different players in the team effort.

Brody Dustin got the scoring started for Aberdeen with a first-period goal. The Wings then took control with three goals in the second period. Cooper Siegert, Zan Spari-Leben, and Gavin Reed each found the back of the net as Aberdeen built a three-goal lead.

The Shamrocks crawled back into the game and cut the deficit to one in the third period before Cooper Anderson scored for Aberdeen to account for the final margin of difference.

Watertown outshot Aberdeen by a 35-27 margin. Wings goalie Adam Dybal racked up 32 saves in the contest.

Aberdeen is on the road for two more games this weekend to cap a five-game road stand. The Wings play at the Minnesota Mallards on Friday and Saturday.
