Northern State recruit Addison Neuendorf of Hamlin capped her career with her third straight Class A first-team all-state selection announced today by the South Dakota High School Basketball Coaches Association.

The senior point guard was also a third-team selection as a freshman.

She highlights a group of 10 area players who earn all-state status across three classes.

CLASS A

First Team

Addison Neuendorf, Hamlin. “A great point guard makes your whole team better, and Addie has done that the last five years. Her feel for the game is second to none,” said Chargers coach Tim Koisti. “She knows when she needs to score, knows when to find her open teammate, and knows when she must defend. She is a lock down defender and really creates problems for the other team’s best player.” Neudendorf finished with more than 1,700 career points and broke her single season assist record this year.

Blake Thompson, Mobridge-Pollock. The Black Hills state recruit capped her career with a first-team all-state selection after being third team a year ago. “Awesome honor for Blake to help wrap up a great career,” said Tigers coach Stephen Hettick. “I have enjoyed working with her and I am excited to see what she will do at the next level.”

Third Team

Issie Steffensen, Hamlin. “Issie is such a great 3-point shooter and has added the ability to score mid-range and at the rim. She was a consistent scorer for us and could be counted on to make big shots,” said Chargers coach Tim Koisti. “Defensively, she always had to guard someone bigger than her and did an amazing job game after game.”

Belle Pauli, Milbank. “Belle plays physical basketball on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. On offense, Belle can score turning off either shoulder in the paint and she has worked hard on her outside shot and gained more and more confidence shooting 3s as the season went on,” said Bulldogs coach Tony Howard. “Belle is an excellent rebounder on both sides of the ball. She was a major presence inside the paint for us this year.”

Ashlynn Vavruska, Florence-Henry. “I am very proud of Ashlynn and the work she has dedicated to the game of hoops. Ashlynn is a prolific point guard. She’s a skilled, crafty and coachable guard that gets it done for her team on the offensive and defensive end,” said Falcons coach Brooklyn Schulte. “It is an absolute honor to coach a hooper of her caliber.”

Second Team

Taryn Hermansen, Aberdeen Central. “Taryn had a phenomenal senior season. She reached the 1,000-point milestone, came back from an injury and helped guide/lead our team to the state tournament,” said Golden Eagles coach Paiton Burckhard. “Her shoes are big ones to fill and she will leave an everlasting mark in our program. She was dominant all season in the post and is a huge reason we had the successful season that we did.”

Lauryn Burckhard, Aberdeen Central. “We saw a lot of maturity from Lauryn this season. She had to find other ways to score aside from her outside shot,” said Golden Eagles coach Paiton Burckhard. “She utilized her back to the basket skills more and we saw her succeed in that way. She was a consistent dominant force for our team all season.”

CLASS B

Second Team

Addison Heinje, Waubay-Summit. “She is the first one in the gym and the last one to leave every night, and it showed all year. She led our team in points, rebounds, steals, and blocks,” said Mustangs coach Caleb DeKam. “She’s a special offensive player with the ability to post up and finish in the paint, and can hit 3’s at a high rate, too. On the defensive side, she gets around 5 steals/blocks a night, which shows why she’s such a nightmare for opposing offenses.”

Third Team

Highmore-Harrold’s Jada Baloun, center, goes up with a shot attempt as Aberdeen Roncalli’s Rylee Voeller, right, defends and Morgan Helms, far right, looks on during a game at the Warner Classic this past season in Warner. Photo by John Davis taken 2/24/2026

Jada Baloun, Highmore-Harrold. “Jada is a talented and hard-working player, who has done very well already as a sophomore,” said Pirates coach Mike Ring. “She scored in double figures in 21 of 23 games, with 20 points or more in nine of them. Jada also scored her 1,000th point during region week this year.”

Honorable Mention

Amree Vander Vorst, North Central. “She’s the kind of athlete who has put in a lot of time in the gym and truly loves the game. She played an important role on our team and was a strong, steady leader,” said Thunder coach Kaci Vander Vorst. “Throughout the season she faced a lot of defensive pressure – often seeing face guards, box-and-one defenses, and double teams – but still found ways to score. She also did a great job creating opportunities for her teammates.” She finished with 1,340 career points.
