SIOUX FALLS – The top-seeded Sioux Falls Flyers scored multiple goals in every period on the way to an 8-0 girls’ hockey win over the Aberdeen Cougars on Sunday.

The Flyers racked up 55 shots on goal en route to the victory. Emma Honner and Halle Watson each had three goals and one assist.

“Sioux Falls is a strong team, but the 8-0 result today wasn’t simply because of who they are,” said Aberdeen coach Amy Munsterman-Wills. “We showed in our last game against them that we can compete with them. Today, we just didn’t show up and play to our standard.”

While Chloe Vikander collected 47 saves in goal for Aberdeen, the Cougars managed just seven shots on goal in the contest.

“At this point in the season, we know what a complete game of hockey looks like,” Munsterman-Wills said, “and I’m confident we’ll respond and tap back into that as we prepare for our final games and the state tournament.”

The Cougars have a game at Watertown on Friday, before hosting Oahe at 9 a.m. Sunday at the Odde Ice Center.
