While the emphasis was on refining technique, members of the Aberdeen Swim Club still produced solid times during the recently concluded High Point Swim Meet last weekend at the Aberdeen Aquatic Center.
ASC coach Darien Street said both the younger swimmers and the older ones showed improvement with their performances during the meet.
“This meet was a good meet. The younger kids were positive throughout the meet and were really focused on making corrections to technique, while still showing improvement both technique-wise and time-wise,” Street said. “The older kids were meant to have a more tired meet and just grind through, but a lot of them surprised me and themselves by getting best times or within a few seconds of their best times, while still focusing on technique, which remains the focus of our team as a more technique-driven program.”
The Stingrays had three individuals who were high point finishers in their respective divisions.
Ben Newton was first in the Boys 6 and Under, Evelyn Brudvig was first in the Girls 9-10, and Quinton Anderson was first in the Boys 15-16.

Street said the swimmers remained positive despite less than ideal conditions for swimming.
“I loved the overall attitude of this weekend,” Street said, “even when the weather got a bit cloudy and brisk on Sunday, everyone stayed positive and energetic.”
