YANKTON – Less than 24 hours after a boys’ hockey victory over Yankton, the Aberdeen Cougars found themselves on the short end of a 7-0 setback to the Bucks on Sunday afternoon.

Yankton scored less than a minute into the contest on the way to a four-goal first period and never looked back. Kaden Hunhoff had three goals and an assist for the Bucks.

“We did not play with the same intensity we had (Saturday) night,” said Aberdeen coach Dana Myhre. “They were beating us to pucks, and we were slow in our decision making, and we couldn’t stay out of the penalty box today. Every time we had a power play, we took a penalty to nullify our power play.”

Andrew Weisenburger had 36 saves in goal for Aberdeen.

The Cougars have a big weekend of hockey ahead with three home games at the Odde Ice Center.

“Senior night Friday against Mitchell,” Myhre said. “We need to be ready to play. They beat us in Mitchell a couple weeks ago, and we need to get that win.”

The Cougars then host Sioux Falls East on Saturday night, and Huron on Sunday afternoon.”
