For the second time in three days, the Aberdeen Cougars buried nine goals in a game for another boys’ hockey victory on Sunday afternoon.

Aberdeen, which blanked Mitchell 9-0 on Friday, dominated the Huron All-Stars 9-1 on Sunday.

“Last home game of the year and the boys played great,” said Cougars coach Dana Myhre. “Started out a bit slow and sloppy in the first period, but I felt like we got it together in the second. We were moving the puck well and made some really nice plays.”

Trayke Roehrich started the scoring barrage with a goal in the first period before Paxton Dallmann added a second goal in the period.

The hosts exploded for four goals in the second period as Carter Vilhauer, Dallmann, Derek Holland, and Roehrich each found the back of the net.

The Cougars then tacked on three more goals in the final period. Briggs Medill had a goal, Dallmann capped off a hat trick, and Logan Fischbach finished off the scoring.

“It’s fun to see the things we have been working on all season coming together at the right time,” Myhre said. “I feel like we have been playing our best hockey of the season the last couple of weeks. Hopefully we can keep it going into the state tournament coming up.”

The Cougars will cap off their regular season with a game at Watertown on Friday, and another one at Brandon Valley on Saturday.
