Wings rally for win over Minnesota Mallards

The Aberdeen Wings scored three goals in the third period to skate past the Minnesota Mallards 6-4 in NAHL hockey action Friday night at the Odde Ice Center.

Trailing 5-4 after the second period, the hosts scored back-to-back goals in less than two minutes in the final period to jump in front.

Jibber Kuhl tied the game with 14:35 remaining, before Owen Pitters found the back of the net with the game-winning goal at the 12:48 mark. Easton Edwards accounted for the final margin of difference with a goal with 10 seconds left.

Aberdeen scored a pair of goals in the opening period to grab a 2-1 lead. Cooper Anderson had the first one on an assist from Sam Scheetz, and Pitters had the other on an assist from Kuhl with 45 seconds left in the period.

The Wings also received a goal from David Hruby in the second period, when Minnesota scored three goals to take a lead.

The Mallards outshot Aberdeen 31-29. Willum Braun had 27 saves in goal for the Wings.

The same two teams are back at tonight, with puck drop set for 7:15 at the Odde.
