Free throws power CSP past Northern men

Concordia-St. Paul used the free throw line to its advantage in a 78-73 men’s college basketball win over Northern State at Wachs Arena Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Bears made 24-of-29 foul shots to help fuel its Northern Sun Intercollege Conference victory.

The contest was tight throughout with seven lead changes and nine ties before the Golden Bears were able to secure the win.

CSP broke a 56-56 tie with five unanswered points, and then added a six-point surge to take a nine-point lead with four minutes remaining.

Joshua Book topped Northern with 23 points and seven assists. James Glenn contributed 16 points and four steals. Tobi Obiora finished with eight points and a game-high 14 rebounds.

The Wolves, 7-11 overall and 7-5 in the NSIC, play at Minnesota State on Friday, and at St. Cloud State on Saturday.
