SIOUX FALLS – Aberdeen Central finished sixth in team points during the Lolly Forseth Invitational gymnastics meet on Saturday.

The Golden Eagles hit their highest team score of the season with a total of 132.425.

Mitchell won the event with Watertown taking second.

Central was led by Regan Lust who finished seventh in floor exercise and 10th in all-around.

Hattie Gederos had a personal record for every event she competed in and hit a second state qualifying mark on vault, needing just one more to qualify for state.

Central coach Mickey Everson noted that seventh-grader Ryliee Zens had one of her scores on beam.

“She set the tone,” Everson said. “When the older girls saw her attack it without fear, wobbles or stops, they followed suit and pulled out amazing scores.”

Everson said Central only had five gymnastics who competed in the meet which came together at the last minute, so she was pleased with the results.

“Knowing we had to pull it together the last minute with injuries, extreme cold, unplanned, and only five gymnasts, we ‘locked in’ as the kids say and performed amazingly,” Everson said.

The Golden Eagles have a big week ahead, hosting a triangular on Friday, before hosting the Eastern South Dakota Conference meet on Saturday.
