WATERTOWN – On the eve of its final home appearance, the Aberdeen Central girls’ wrestling program scored a pair of dual victories over Eastern South Dakota Conference opponents Thursday night, defeating Harrisburg 60-24 and downing Watertown 42-32.
While the Golden Eagles claimed victory in just one of the five contested matches against Watertown, Central secured enough open weight classes to score the overall victory. Lilly Nelson was the lone Central wrestler to earn a contested win, pinning Nevaeh Schanbeck in the third period of the 170 pound match.
Against Harrisburg, however, the Golden Eagles racked up five wins, all coming by fall.
“The girls wrestle hard and aggressive, and it showed in our scores on the way to two victories,” said Central coach Jake Flakus.
Madison Little (110 pounds), Arianna Goldade (120), Rakyrah Wallace (140), Allison Neitzel (145) and Lin Paw Jone (155) each scored pins against the Tigers.

“Duals are fun because you really get to see the team aspect of wrestling,” Flakus said. “This was a good confidence boost going into our home tournament (Friday).”
Central will host the annual Lee Wolf Invitational this weekend with the girls tournament taking place today and the boys competing on Saturday at Golden Eagles Arena.
