MITCHELL – Aberdeen Central returned from break in dominant fashion.

The Golden Eagles put together a 57-17 girls’ wrestling victory over Mitchell Tuesday afternoon in an Eastern South Dakota Conference dual.

“We did pretty well,” said Central coach Jake Flakus. “It was nice to get on the mat after being gone for a week and to see them perform well is good to see.”

Of the six contested matches that Central claimed, five of them came via bonus point victories. Paisley Stewart (100 pounds), Jayda Hoffman (125), and Lilly Nelson (170) each won by fall, while Madison Little (110) won by technical fall and Lin Paw Jone (155) claimed a major decision.

“There were some matches we weren’t necessarily winning but our girls found a way to get the win,” Flakus said. “Even in the matches we lost there was a lot of fight and a lot of effort. Definitely happy with how we wrestled today.”

Central is back in action next Tuesday, hosting Huron in the team’s final home dual of the season.

“Hard to believe it’s already going to be senior night,” Flakus said. “Just the way the calendar falls this year.”

Flakus noted that the Tigers will field a full lineup, giving all weight classes a chance to wrestle at home.
