ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State nailed a 3-pointer on its opening possession and never looked back on the way to a 70-39 women’s college basketball victory over Northern State Saturday afternoon.

The Huskies scored the first 10 points of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference contest and the Wolves never recovered.

St. Cloud exploded for 29 first-quarter points. While the NSU defense prevented those outbursts the remaining quarters, the hole was too big for the Wolves to dig out of.

Lily Klein led Northern with nine points, followed by Izzy Moore with seven, and Reagan Rus and Carli Kuyper with six each.

The Wolves, 10-10 overall and 5-9 in the NSIC, return home for the annual I Hate Winter weekend. NSU hosts Sioux Falls at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and Southwest Minnesota State at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Wachs Arena.
