WATERTOWN – Aberdeen Central was dominant on the road Tuesday night, setting a blistering pace early and pulling away all night long in a 53-20 Eastern South Dakota Conference girls’ basketball victory over Watertown.
The fourth-ranked Golden Eagles allowed just two points in the opening quarter and held the host Arrows to single digits in the first half.
“Proud of our girls,” said Central coach Paiton Burckhard. “It’s been a while since we’ve had a road game and came out with a win.”
Central got another two-headed attack from the paint, as Taryn Hermansen finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Lauryn Burckhard added 13 points and seven rebounds. Emma Dohrer chimed in with nine points, while Kamdyn Borge finished with nine rebounds.
“We rebounded great,” coach Burckhard said, “and overall just got a lot of stuff done both offensively and defensively.”

Watertown was led by Jordan Remmers’ six points. The Arrows finished the game going 1-for-26 from 3-point range.
The win pushes Central to 7-1 on the season. The Golden Eagles remain on the road to face a 6-2 Tea Area squad Saturday. The Titans are ranked fifth, one spot back of Central. The Golden Eagles then head to No. 2 O’Gorman next Tuesday to wrap up a 3-game road stretch.
