BURNSVILLE, Minn. – The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference released the 2025 all-conference football teams Wednesday with nine total Northern State University Wolves honored. Among the nine are five first team honorees, the most for NSU since the 2016 season. In addition, the nine total selections are the most for the Wolves under the direction of head coach Mike Schmidt.

The first team selections in 2025 include Jake Adams, Wyatt Block, Gabe Gutierrez, Daniel Porisch, and Max Van Landingham. Elijah Jopp, Cooper Logan, Matt Oullette, and Javonnee Szymanski were named to the second team.

Adams led Northern State with 93 tackles in just seven games. The junior averaged 13.3 tackles per game which led the Northern Sun and ranked second in the country through the regular season. He tallied a single game career-high of 21 tackles against the University of Sioux Falls and recorded double figure tackles in four contests. Adams broke the Northern State Division II era school record for career tackles against Concordia-St. Paul with his 256th and finished the year with 303. He twice earned NSIC Defensive Player of the Week honors after opening the season as the North Division Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. Adams is now a back-to-back NSIC First Team selection for the Wolves.

Block led the Wolves with 1,271 rushing yards and nine touchdowns in 11 games, marking the first 1000-yard season of his career. He posted a single-game high of 192 yards rushing against MSU Moorhead and six 100-yard games. Block also caught 26 passes for 225 yards and a touchdown, finishing with 1,496 all-purpose yards. He closed out the regular season ranked second in the NSIC in rushing yards per game at 115.5 and first in the North Division. This fall marks the first NSIC All-Conference honor of the senior’s career.

Gutierrez started the opening six games of the season for the Wolves and finished the season leading the NSIC in sacks. He recorded 26 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks for a total loss of 54 yards. In the Wolves home opening win over Wayne State, the redshirt sophomore notched a season high 2.0 sacks. Gutierrez finished the regular season tied for first in sacks (7.0) and tied for second in tackles for a loss (9.5) playing just over half the contests of his counterparts. He recorded sacks in five of his six games played. This is the first NSIC All-Conference accolade of his career.

The NSU offense tallied six games with over 400 yards of total offense and led the NSIC in total offense per game with a 456.9 yard average. In addition, the Wolves notched six games without giving up a sack. They ranked top-10 in the country in yards per play and third down conversion rate and top-15 in total offense. The senior has started all 44 games for the Wolves over the last four seasons and is a first time NSIC All-Conference selection.

Van Landingham started in all 11 games, recording 46 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks. He led the team alongside Gutierrez in tackles for a loss and sacks; sitting first in the league in sacks and second in tackles for a loss.
