WOLSEY – Wolsey-Wessington captured a pivotal third set and pulled away in the fourth to record a 30-28, 16-25, 25-23, 25-19 non-conference volleyball win over Aberdeen Christian Thursday night.

After splitting the first two sets, the third set was up for grabs. When the Warbirds edged Christian to go up a set, the hosts were able to control the fourth for the victory.

“I think we’re almost right where we wanna be. We’re passing really well and playing really good defense,” said Christian coach Sally Stoebner. “There were a lot of good long rallies. We just need to figure out a way to put the ball away early so we can point score with our serve.”

Ariana Johnson had 24 kills to power the Knights. She also contributed three solo blocks and two assisted blocks. Sophie Glynn and Jolie Fogarty each added nine kills to the Christian total.

Junior setter Sawyer Schwan led the Knights with 38 set assists, including her 1,000th career assist during the match.

“We couldn’t be prouder of Sawyer,” Stoebner said, “and can’t wait to keep adding to that number.”
