WEBSTER – Aberdeen Roncalli finished off sets when it needed to and ended up finishing off Webster 25-23, 25-15, 27-25 in Northeast Conference volleyball action Thursday night. The victory comes after the Cavaliers lost back-to-back matches last week against a pair of quality foes in Groton and Hamlin.

“The girls played hard tonight,” said Roncalli coach Leesa Ware. “We talked a lot this week in practice about eliminating errors, keeping the momentum, and most importantly finishing. They did just that tonight.”

The first and third sets were battles to the wire, and the Cavaliers were able to secure both, the third set in extra points.

“It was a big win for us,” Ware said, “as Webster is a good team.”

Rylee Voeller led a balanced attack for the Cavaliers with 13 kills. Karsyn Davis followed with 10. Voeller also contributed 26 digs and two ace serves. Elyana Roach had 23 set assists.

Roncalli, 5-3 on the season, hosts cross-town foe Aberdeen Christian on Monday night at Roncalli Gym. The two have had some memorable matchups in recent years.

“Christian is always a fun team to play,” Ware said. “I think their energy and they have quite a few very solid players will make for an interesting and competitive game.”
