Groton, Redfield pick up region Amateur wins

FAULKTON – Groton Locke Electric and Redfield Dairy Queen started out the Class B Amateur postseason with victories on Sunay.

Groton collected 17 hits on the way to a 13-7 win over the Northville Merchants, while Redfield used a nine-run inning to help fuel a 14-1 win over the Faulkton Hitmen.

Groton used a five-run fifth inning to erase a 6-4 deficit en route to its victory.

Dylan Frey finished with four hits and knocked in four runs to lead Groton. He had RBI singles in the second and fourth, and two-run double in the fifth.

BJ Richter contributed three hits and drove in three. He had a two-run double in the fourth and a run-producing single in the fifth. Ryan Groeblinghoff also had three hits.

Kyle Stahl and Devon Fischbach each had two hits for Northville. Ben Fischbach had a bases-loaded double driving in three runs.

Redfield Dairy Queen 14, Faulkton Hitmen 1

Nolan Gall struck out 14 batters and did not allow an earned run in a complete-game pitching performance in a win over Faulkton.

DQ broke open a 3-1 game with a nine-run fifth inning. Bennett Osborn drove in a pair, while Keaton Rohlfs, Noah Hainy, Owen Osborn and Brent Osborn each drove in one during the uprising.

Peyton Osborn and Brent Osborn each had two hits for DQ. Brent Osborn drove in four runs, while Peyton Osborn plated three.

Beau Kirsch had a pair of hits for Faulkton.
