Dairy Queen pulls away from Groton for Amateur win

FAULKTON – Redfield Dairy Queen used a seven-run eighth inning to turn back Groton Locke Electric 15-5 in postseason Amateur baseball action Wednesday night.

Redfield had built an 8-2 advantage through the first four innings before Groton responded with three unanswered runs, including two in the top of the eighth to slice the margin down to three.

That’s when DQ ended the game with its outburst in the bottom half of the frame.

Owen Osborn had an RBI double, Keaton Rohlfs drove in a pair with a double, another run came in on a bases-loaded walk from Noah Hainy, two runs came in on an error, and the game ended on a wild pitch.

DQ received two hits apiece from Owen Osborn, Bennett Osborn, and Rohlfs. Owen Osborn drove in three runs, while Cooper Hainy, Rohlfs, and Noah Hainy each plated a pair.

Jonah Schmitt, Brian Hansen, Bradin Althoff, Ben Althoff, and Wyatt Locke each had two hits for Groton, which matched Redfield’s 11 hits. Locke had three RBI, while Bradin Althoff followed with two.
