CLARK – In a wild game, it was a wild pitch that proved to be the difference on Friday evening.

Clark-Willow Lake edged Lake Norden-Badger for the second straight day to win the Region 6B American Legion baseball championship with a 12-11 decision.

One day after an 4-2 eight-inning win on Thursday, Clark-Willow Lake overcame 4-0 and 10-1 deficits, and grabbed a walk-off victory in an unlikely manner in the title contest. With two outs and nobody on, Clark-Willow Lake took advantage of three straight walks, and Tyson Huber came home with the game-winning run on a wild pitch.

Lake Norden-Badger scored four two-out runs in the top of the first inning to set the tone for the high-scoring game. Riggs Prouty had a two-run single, and Rylan Thue added a two-run double.

Clark-Willow Lake responded with five two-out runs of its run in the bottom half of the inning. One run came across on an error, before Josh Kannegieter had a two-run single, and Collin Gaikowski added a two-run double.

Lake Norden-Badger then plated six runs in the top of the second inning. Three runs came in on errors, Protuy had an RBI single, and Aiden Abraham had a two-run single.

Clark-Willow Lake answered with six unanswered runs, scoring once in the second, three times in the third, and twice in the fourth. Tyson Huber had a three-run home run in the third, and Gaikowski had an RBI double in the fourth.

Lake Norden-Badger scored a run in the sixth to tie the game, setting the stage for the dramatic bottom of the seventh.

Gaikowski had two hits and drove in three, while Huber and Kannegieter also finished with three RBI.

Ted Smith and Riggs Prouty each had three hits, and Thue had a game-high four RBI. Prouty contributed three RBI, and Dawson Noem and Abraham each drove in a pair.

Clark-Willow Lake now advances to the State B Tournament next week in Milbank where it will face Dell Rapids in the opening round at 10 a.m. on Friday.
