Milbank pitchers silence Big Stone City

BIG STONE CITY – A trio of pitchers allowed just five hits over 12 innings in a doubleheader sweep over Big Stone City Monday night. Milbank swept the American Legion twinbill by scores of 3-2 and 16-2.

Reese Rabe and Josh Pederson combined for a three-hitter in the opener. Rabe threw the first five innings before Pederson came on in relief.

Milbank scored two-runs in the top of the seventh inning to erase a one-run deficit. Joe Schulte tied the game with an RBI double, before Aiden Kelly singled in Schulte with the eventual game-winning run. The decision spoiled a 13-strikeout performance by Big Stone City pitcher Isaac Brown.

Schulte tossed a two-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks in the second game.

Nollen Sheeley had two hits and drove in three runs to lead Milbank. Pederson, Schulte, and Kelly each added a pair of hits in the win.
