A look back at some of the sports happenings during the week of June 22-28 2025:

Last year on June 22, 2024: Spearfish teacher and coach Eric Lappe made his first career hole-in-one at hole No. 8 at Meadowbrook in Rapid City. In 1992, Lappe led Harrold to the State B championship before an overflowing crowd at the Barnett Center in Aberdeen. Harrold nipped Warner 84-79 as Lappe scored 40 points, while Chuck Welke led Warner with 39 points and 22 rebounds. Chris Rozell added 26 for Warner (23-1).

10 years ago on June 27, 2015: Redfield graduate Aubrey Baxter placed 11th in the hammer throw at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Nationals in Eugene, Ore.

20 years ago on June 24, 2005: More than 4,000 youth soccer players from 13 states were in Sioux Falls for the five-day U.S. Youth Soccer Midwest Regional Championships. Winners will advance to the nationals in Orlando.

30 years ago on June 25, 1995: Brian and Stacy Prisbe of Aberdeen won the husband-wife golf state tourney at Moccasin Creek Country Club in Aberdeen.

40 years ago on June 23, 1985: Dr. Charles Turner of Vermillion shot his 50,000 registered trapshooting target at the Sioux Falls Gun Club. Turner shot his first registered target in 1960.

50 years ago on June 22, 1975: Curt Bryum, 16, of Onida won the Spearfish golf tourney, and the field included former state champions. Last March as a sophomore, Bryum helped Sully Buttes advance to the State B tourney as he averaged 14.7 points per game.
