Fast start fuels Groton victory over Redfield

GROTON – Groton exploded for nine runs in the first two innings on the way to a 10-3 win over Redfield in American Legion baseball on Sunday.

The hosts scored five times in the first frame and added four more runs in the second.

Carter Simon had an RBI double and Braxton Imrie delivered a two-run single in the first. Gavin Englund’s two-run single highlighted the second frame.

Teylor Diegel had three singles to lead the victory. Brevin Fliehs followed with a pair of hits.

Noah Johnson topped Redfield with two hits, including a run-producing single in the first. He then drove in a run on a double in the third, before scoring on a single from Jacksan Rude.
