Groton shuts down Clark in baseball win

GROTON – Jarrett Erdmann allowed just two hits over five innings as Groton collected an 11-1 high school baseball win over Clark on Sunday night.

Erdmann struck out five and walked three in pitching a complete game.

Meanwhile, Groton scored three runs in the third inning, five runs in the fourth, and three in the fifth.

Brevin Fliehs had an RBI double and Gavin Englund drove in a pair with a double in the third frame.

Lincoln Krause and Carter Simon both had run-scoring singles in the fourth, and Karsten Fliehs plated a pair in the fourth inning.

After Watson Grantham drove in a run for Clark in the top of the fifth, Groton evoked the 10-run rule in the bottom half of the inning as Brevin Fliehs had an inside-the-park home run, another run scored on a passed ball and Nick Morris ended the game on a sacrifice fly.

Brevin Fliehs topped Groton with three hits, while Krause, Simon, and Englund each had two hits. Fliehs also drove in three runs. Krause, Fliehs and Simon each scored three runs.

MADISON – Warner-Ipswich-Northwestern split a pair of games on Sunday, losing to Madison 10-0 and defeating Sisseton-Britton-Webster 9-3.

W-I-N suffered its first loss of the season by being no-hit by Madison’s JD Prorok, who struck out 15 batters.

W-I-N used a seven-run third inning to take control against Sisseton-Britton-Webster. Chays Mansfield had an RBI double in the frame and three runs scored on passed balls. W-I-N took advantage of 11 walks in the contest.

Carter Stickland came on in reliefe for S-B-W and struck out seven batters without allowing a run.

Ben Suther and Rylan Anderson each drove in runs for Sissseton-Britton-Webster.
