SIOUX FALLS – Aberdeen Central’s Mya Arampatzis was back at it again Saturday during the Howard Wood Dakota Relays.

One day after breaking a 19-year-old record in the semifinals of 100-meter hurdles in a time of 14.70 seconds, the standout broke her own record in winning the finals with a clocking of 14.44.

“Mya had an excellent start in the 100 hurdles which allowed her to hold off the rest of the field and better the school record she set (Friday),” said Central girls’ coach Jim Appl.

Central’s Gracie Rife finished eight in the 100-meter dash, while Jaidyn Forsyth and Breckan Santjer just missed making the podium in the pole vault.

“Jaidyn and Breckan did a great job in the pole vault,” Appl said. “They continue to make improvement and moved to some new poles today.”

Jalyssa Hutson of Ipswich finished eighth in the pole vault.

Appl also pointed out the performance of Central’s 1,600-meter relay.

“Our 4×4 had a solid ending to our meet,” Appl said. “Shout out to Lucy Fritz running a solid anchor leg for us in her 4X4 debut.”

Many area girls’ relay squads had solid performances on the way to setting school records.
