REDFIELD – Groton exploded for 10 runs in the fourth inning on the way to a 16-0 win over Redfield in American Legion baseball action on Monday.
Groton scored twice in the first inning, four times in the second and then put the game out of reach in the fourth.
Meanwhile, Brevin Fliehs was steller on the mound, giving up just one hit over four innings, striking out eight and not allowing a walk.
Bradin Althoff got the scoring started with a two-run single in the first. Colby Dunker and Braxton Imrie had two-run hits in the third.
Groton had just two hits on the way to scoring 10 runs in the fourth, a run-producing single by Teylor Diegel, and another two-run single by Althoff. Korbin Kucker added a sacrifice fly. Other runs came in on bases-loaded hit batters and a walk, a pair of wild pitches, and an error.
Althoff finished with four hits and drove in four runs to lead Groton. Fliehs scored four times. Imrie had two hits and drove in a pair, and Dunker also had two RBI.
