Wolves used first-half spurts to fuel women’s win over Jamestown

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Northern State used an 11-2 surge to start the game, and another 11-2 surge to close out the opening half on the to a 67-58 win over Jamestown in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women’s basketball win on Saturday afternoon.

The Wolves, who never trailed in the contest, watched Jamestown close the gap to 22-20 in the second period before opening up a 33-22 cushion at the half.

Megan Counts led NSU with 17 points, while Izzy Moore and Reagan Rus each contributed 14 for the Wolves.

Northern improved to 7-6 overall and 3-5 in the NSIC. The Wolves play at the University of Sioux Falls on Monday in a contest that was postponed from earlier this season. NSU then has games at Wayne State on Friday, and at Augustana on Saturday.
