NORTH SIOUX CITY – Dakota Valley held serve on its pitch Tuesday, grabbing a 3-1 girls’ soccer victory over Groton in a matchup of the two top-rated Class A squads. The teams will meet again later this month in Groton.

The Panthers set the tone with a pair of first-half goals.

“Hats off to Dakota Valley. They are a very well-rounded team,” said Groton coach Matt Baumgartner. “They do the right things a lot of the time and make it frustrating to strategize against.”

Groton got on the board in the second half when Mia Crank found the back of the net for the Tigers.

Groton, 6-3 on the season, has a 10-day break before another road matchup against West Central on Saturday, Sept. 27.
