SIOUX FALLS – The Aberdeen Central boys finished seventh in the team standings, while Juna Ramey notched a top-45 finish individually for the girls as the Golden Eagle cross country squads kicked off their season at the Augustana Twilight Invitational Friday evening at Yankton Trail Park.

The Central boys notched 337 points, seventh out of more than 45 programs in the high school meet. The Golden Eagles were the second-best Eastern South Dakota program in that team race.

“The Twilight is always a great atmosphere for our kids,” said Central boys’ coach Greg Murley. “The weather was great and competition was high. It’s nice to be able to be on the same course as fellow ESD teams.”

Carson Urlacher led the way for the Golden Eagles, finishing in 43rd place. Patrick Severson was three seconds back in 47th place, and Max Nelson was 74th overall.

“We had a load of PRs and competed hard,” Murley said.

Juna Ramey also finished in 43rd place for the girls’ squad, the lone Golden Eagle runner in the top 100.

Central finished in a tie for 24th overall as a team and seventh amongst ESD teams in the 39-squad field.

The Golden Eagles will host the Sahli/Salmi Invitational meet Thursday at Lee Park Golf Course.

“We look forward to our home meet on Thursday and are always keeping our sights set on ESD,” Murley said.
