Wolves roll past Moorhead with big second half

MOORHEAD, Minn. – Coming off a frustrating last-minute loss last Saturday, the Northern State men’s basketball team responded with its largest win of the season Thursday night.

The Wolves outscored Minnesota State Moorhead 45-26 in the second half en route to a 76-52 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference victory. Northern is now 3-8 overall and 3-3 in NSIC action.

Northern pulled away from a five-point halftime edge with a big second-half surge. Included in the final half was a 10-0 run which pushed a 47-36 advantage to a commanding 57-36 lead.

Joshua Book led four players in double-figure scoring for the Wolves with 19 points. He also added seven asssists.

Nelson Reynolds came off the bench to contribute 15 points. Simon Akena followed with 14, and Ty Rogers finished with 12.

NSU had a dominating 41-27 advantage in rebounds, led by Akena with eight, and Book and Tobi Obiora with seven apiece.

The Wolves will play their final game of 2025 when they travel to Minnesota Crookston on Saturday.
