It’s a called a moratorium, meaning a temporary halt of an activity.
That means that all sanctioned high school sports will be taking some time off next week. It’s a good thing and gives coaches and athletes a short break, a chance to exhale, and an opportunity to spend time with family and friends. Of course, that also means there will not be any contests to report on because they will come to a brief halt.
That does not mean, however, that there will be a lack of things to read and look at on SD SportScene. We will continue to provide you with the best daily content that we can. We have a full week of exciting and unique items planned for you.
There will be a variety of feature stories, a year-end award winner story, and two staples around the holidays: our Quotes of the Year, and then our Photos of the Year selected by John Davis.
And of course, it won’t be long before sports are up and running at full speed once again.
Northern State is hosting a seven-game girls’ basketball classic on Tuesday, Dec. 30, and the Northern State men’s basketball team will be taking on Black Hills State at 1 p.m. on New Year’s Day at Wachs Arena.
There will also be plenty of Aberdeen Cougars hockey action (boys and girls), out at the Odde Ice Center during the holiday break.
So while the action on the basketball court, wrestling mat, and gymnastics apparatus will take a back seat for just a few days, rest assured it will be back in full force before you know it. In the meantime, please continue to check out SD SportScene for fresh daily content, and have a wonderful holiday season spending time with loved ones. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
