MOBRIDGE – The Mobridge-Pollock offense continued to light up the scoreboard for the second week in a row. After putting up 52 points last week, the Tigers bolted past Aberdeen Roncalli 50-0 to win their third straight game to start the football season.

In three games this season, Mobridge-Pollock has outscored its opponents by a combined margin of 131-15.

After Roncalli got inside Tigers territory on the opening drive of the game, Mobridge-Pollock took over. The hosts exploded for 36 first-half points.

Mack Saxon, who scored three touchdowns on the night, produced the first TD with a 23-yard run. Shooter Frederick then fired a 55-yard pass to Dylan Fjeldheim for the game’s second touchdown.

The Cavaliers continued to move the ball across midfield, but each time were turned away by the Mobridge-Pollock defense.

The Tigers took total control in the second quarter with three more touchdowns. Kale Knudson hauled in a 50-yard TD pass from Frederick, Saxon tacked on a 27-yard scoring run, and Easton Eisemann fired a 19-yard scoring strike to Frederick in the final minute of the half.

Mobridge-Pollock then scored on the opening play of the third quarter when Fjeldheim returned the kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown.

Roncalli then forced back-to-back fumbles on the Tigers’ next two possessions. Jean-Anthony Thomas recovered one of them and Cael Dreis recovered the other.

“The kids kept playing hard,” said Roncalli coach Billy Young. “We are just so beat up with injuries right now it’s hard to have any consistency.”

Mobridge-Pollock ended the game with 11:06 remaining on the 50-point rule when Saxon capped his night with a 64-yard touchdown run. Saxon finished with 185 yards on nine carries.

Frederick went 7 for 9 through the air for 194 yards. Eisemann rushed for 52 yards and also caught three passes for 78 yards.

Roncalli’s Austin Fisher paced the Cavaliers with 105 yards passing before leaving the game late in the opening half with an injury. Luke Kaiser had 45 yards receiving, and Will Haskell finished with 42 yards rushing.

The Cavaliers, 0-4 on the season, will have a home game for just the second time this season after three straight weeks on the road.

“We need a home game,” Young said. “The last three weeks have been a grind.”

Roncalli will host Miller-Highmore-Harrold on Thursday night at Dacotah Bank Stadium.
