SIOUX FALLS – Aberdeen Central was unable to come up with a tying goal late, falling to Sioux Falls Jefferson 3-2 in non-conference boys’ soccer action Tuesday night. The contest had a 90-minute late start due to the heat conditions.

Central got on the board on a goal from Derek Arunasalam with five minutes left in the opening half. The Golden Eagles struck again in the second half when Linus Johnson found the back of the net with about 20 minutes left. However, Central could not find the equalizing goal down the stretch.

“We came close with a couple of late chances,” said Central coach Lance Mohr. “We played a really talented team and they capitalized on a couple of our mistakes, which is what good teams do. It’s a tough loss, but we’ll learn from it and get better.”

The Golden Eagles, 1-1 on the season, will play at Harrisburg next Tuesday.
