RAPID CITY – One streak continued and another ended for the Aberdeen Central volleyball team on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles played in another five-set match, however, unlike the previous two, they came up short this time around, dropping a 23-25, 25-13, 26-28, 25-22, 15-10 non-conference decision to Rapid City Stevens.

“We saw some good things from our kids today,” said Central coach Jackie Bindenagel, “but we made too many errors and they came at inconvenient times.”

The Golden Eagles won the first and third sets by the thinnest of margins. They ended up having to rally to secure both of those, but as a result put the pressure on the Raiders the rest of the match.

“Probably the highlight of the day was being down late in sets one and three, 21-23 in both, and scoring four in a row for comeback wins.”

Lauryn Burckhard led the Central offense with 17 kills, followed by Jaidyn Forsyth and Maria Vrooman with nine each.

After a trio of road matches to start off their campaign, the Golden Eagles will have their home opener on Saturday hosting Huron at 2 p.m. at Golden Eagles Arena.
