Rain wipes out postseason baseball games

All of the area American Legion baseball squads had their games postponed on Wednesday due to the rain. As a result, all will be in action today.

The Aberdeen Smittys start their best of three series against Brandon Valley. The two teams will play two games this afternoon at 1 and 3, and then play another game on Friday, if necessary. The winner of the series will advance to the Class A State Tournament in Watertown.

Region 1B today in Sisseton will have Big Stone City vs. Groton at 2 p.m. with the winner advancing to the championship game. In consolation action, Webster meets Sisseton at 5 p.m. The loser will be eliminated, while the winner takes on the loser of the Big Stone City-Groton contest at 7 p.m. The tourney concludes on Friday with the championship at 2 p.m. with a second title game if necessary to follow.

Region 2B today in Clark will include Lake Norden-Badger against Clark-Willow Lake at 2 p.m. with the winner advancing to the championship game. In consolation action, Redfield takes on Warner-Ipswich-Northwestern at 4:30 p.m. The loser of that game will be eliminated while the winner takes on the loser of the Lake Norden-Badger/Clark-Willow Lake game tonight. The region will conclude on Friday with the championship at 5 p.m. with a second title game if necessary to follow.
