GROTON – Each time Lake Norden-Badger scored, Groton came up with a response in a 11-4 American Legion baseball victory on Friday.
Lake Norden-Badger scored a run in the top of the first inning, and Groton answered with three runs in the bottom half of the frame.
The hosts added two runs in the second inning, and when Lake Norden-Badger scored a run in the top of the third, Groton matched it in the bottom of third.
The visitors closed the gap to 5-4 with two runs in the top of the fifth, only to have Groton score five times in the bottom of the fifth to take control for good.
Korbin Kucker, Brevin Fliehs, Carter Simon, and Nick Morris each had RBI singles in the fifth inning for Groton. Morris finished with two hits and drove in four.

Volga 9, Redfield 6
VOLGA – Volga scored in every inning on the way to a 9-6 win over Redfield on Friday.
The hosts bolted out to a 7-1 lead thanks to a six-run second inning and held on from there.
Redfield scored four times in the third frame. Eli Morrissette had a solo homer, Hunter Binger delivered a two-run single, and Zach Bonin added an RBI double.
Redfield outhit Volga 10-9, but had three runners thrown out on the basepaths during the contest.
Morrissette and Chase Odland each had two hits for Redfield.
