GROTON – Aberdeen Roncalli had the top three finishers on the way to claiming the team championship at the Groton Invitational golf tournament on Monday. The Cavaliers had a team total of 367. Groton was runner-up with 409.
“Very proud of the girls today,” said Roncalli coach Jon Murdy. “To battle that wind was tough. And to play great golf on top of that was even tougher.”
Claire Crawford led Roncalli’s delegation at the top of the leaders, earning medalist honors with an 83. Mackenzie Wegehaupt was second with a 92, with teammate Ava Danielson in third, also with a 92.
Sisseton’s Kenzley Heath was fourth and Elliot Hortness was fifth.
Roncalli’s other two golfers also were among the top 10 individual finishers as Morgan Helms was seventh, and Grace Seyer was ninth.
The Cavaliers head to Madison on Thursday for another tournament.
