Class B Track and Field Leaders

Area athletes lead a dozen open events in this week’s Class B track and field leaders, including three who top multiple categories.

Faulkton’s Spencer Melius leads the 110-meter high hurdles and the javelin, Ipswich’s Kyle Hettich tops the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, and Northwestern’s Ella Boekelheide sets the pace in the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter runs.

Other area athletes who are statewide leaders are Leola’s Dustin Wurtz in the shot put, Rasmus Loken of Ipswich in the pole vault, Dylan Hofer of Aberdeen Christian in the triple jump, Wolsey-Wessington’s Kendal Uttecht in the 800-meter run, Jalyssa Hutson of Ipswich in the pole vault, and Emma Schneider of Hitchcock-Tulare in the triple jump.

Those who are currently in second in open events include Melius in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, Kaden Westergren of Sully Buttes in the shot put, Ipswich’s Brody Davis in the pole vault, Landon Larson of Potter County in the long jump, Ty Boekelheide of Northwestern in the triple jump, and Marley Guthmiller of Ipswich in the pole vault.

Area relays that are second are Ipswich in the boys’ 400-meter and 1,600-meter, Ipswich in the girls’ 1,600, and Potter County in the girls’ 3,200.

Other area boys in the leaders are North Central’s Gabe Johnson who is third in the 1,600 and 3,200, Brody Bass of Castlewood who is third in the 110 hurdles followed by Loken in eighth, Wilmot’s Kyle Schwenn who is fourth in the 400, followed by Max Kulesa of Ipswich in fifth, and Hettich in sixth, Logan LaBrie of Hitchcock-Tulare who is fifth in the 100, Wurtz who is fifth in the discus, Faulkton’ Weston Senn who is fifth in the javelin, Chays Mansfield of Warner who is fifth in the pole vault, followed by Easton Bruns of Warner in sixth, and North Central’s Koby Wherry who is eighth, Leola’s Jacob Kindelspire who is sixth in the shot put, Lucas Gulbranson of Leola who is seventh in the long jump, and Kolby Haubris of Wilmot who is eighth in the high jump.

Other area boys’ relay teams in the leaders include Ipswich in the 800-meter, Frederick in the 3,200-meter followed by North Central in eighth, and Wilmot which is eighth in the 800-meter and sprint medley.

Other area girls in the leaders are Breanna Jochim of Herreid-Selby Area who is third in the 100, followed by Shawnteah LaCroix of Aberdeen Christian in fourth, Dannika Kaup of Potter County who is third in the 300 hurdles with Guthmiller eighth, Peyton Schnabel of North Central who is third in the pole vault, followed by Courtney Leidholt of Warner in fourth, Avery Bruns of Warner in fifth, Jordyn Jensen of Warner in sixth, and Alaina Dosch of North Central in eight, Lindsey Geier of North Central who is third in the triple jump followed by Amare Clemente of Wolsey-Wessington in fourth, and LaCroix in fifth, LaCroix who is fourth in the 200, followed by Sophia Knittel of Ipswich in sixth, Annaliese Van Zee of Sully Buttes who is fourth in the javelin, Leidholt of Warner who is fifth in the long jump followed by teammate Kaydee Mackner in eighth, Boekelheide who is sixth in the 800 followed by Emma Schlachter of Potter County in seventh, Tatum Luce of Wolsey-Wessington who is sixth in the high jump, followed by Clemente in eighth, Emma Huizenga of Hitchcock-Tulare who is seventh in the shot put, Kendal Uttecht of Wolsey-Wessington who is eighth in the 400, and Madisyn Gellhaus of Ipswich who is eighth in the 3,200.

Other area girls’ relay teams in the leaders are Potter County which is third in the 1,600-meter followed by Sunshine Bible in fifth, Herreid-Selby Area which is fourth in the 400-meter, fifth in the 800-meter and seventh in the sprint medley, Wolsey-Wessington which is fourth in the sprint medley and sixth in the 800-meter, Warner which is fifth in the 3,200-meter followed by Ipswich in sixth, and Aberdeen Christian which is eighth in the 400-meter.
