Class B Track and Field Leaders

Area Class B track and field athletes turned in memorable performances this past week to move up the statewide leaderboard.

There are six new state-leading times this week by area athletes in a variety of events in addition to the five previous top marks established earlier this season.

New Class B leaders this week include Faulkton’s Spencer Melius in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, Rasmus Loken of Ipswich in the pole vault, Dylan Hofer of Aberdeen Christian in the triple jump, the Ipswich boys’ 1,600-meter relay, Kendal Uttecht of Wolsey-Wessington in the 800-meter run, and Ella Boekelheide of Northwestern in the 3,200-meter run.

Those retaining their top positions from last week include Ipswich’s Kyle Hettich in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash, Dustin Wurtz of Leola in the shot put, Boekelheide in the 1,600-meter run, Jalyssa Hutson of Ipswich in the pole vault, and the Potter County girls’ 3,200-meter relay.

Those in second-place positions include Gabe Johnson of North Central in the 3,200-meter run, Melius in the 110-meter high hurdles, Kadyn Westergren of Sully Buttes in the shot put, Brody Davis of Ipswich in the pole vault, Potter County’s Landon Larson in the long jump, the Ipswich boys’ 400-meter relay squad, Marley Guthmiller of Ipswich in the pole vault, Wolsey-Wessington’s Samara Clemente in the triple jump, and the Ipswich girls’ 1,600-meter relay team.

Other area individual boys among the leaders include: Johnson who is third in the 1,600-meter run, Ty Boekelheide of Northwestern who is third in the triple jump, while Wilmot’s Ethan Schwenn is fourth in the 400, followed by Max Kulesa in fifth, and Hettich in sixth, Castlewood’s Brody Bass is fourth in the 110-hurdles followed by Loken in eighth, Faulkton’s Weston Senn is fourth in the javelin, Wurtz is fifth in the discus, Chays Mansfield of Warner is fifth in the pole vault, followed by North Central’s Kobe Wherry in seventh and Jared Wherry in eighth, Leola’s Jacob Kindelspire is sixth in the shot put, Logan LaBrie of Hitchcock-Tulare is seventh in the 200 and eighth in the 100, Payton Chasing Hawk of Hitchcock-Tulare is eighth in the 300, and Wilmot’s Kolby Haubris is eighth in the high jump.

Other area relay squads among the leaders are Ipswich which is third in the 800-meter, Frederick which is sixth in the 3,200-meter, followed by North Central in seventh, and Wilmot which is sixth in the sprint medley relay and eighth in the 800-meter.

Other area individual girls among the leaders include: Breanna Jochim of Herreid-Selby Area who is third in the 100, followed by Shawnteah LaCroix of Aberdeen Christian who is fourth, and Peyton Schnabel of North Central who is eighth, Dannika Kaup of Potter County is third in the 300-hurdles, and followed by Ipswich’s Marley Guthmiller who is seventh, Annaliese Van Zee of Sully Buttes is third in the javelin, Schnabel is third in the pole vault, followed by Warner’s Jordyn Jensen who is fifth, Courtney Leidholt who is sixth, and Tatum Hanson who is eighth, Emma Schneider of Hitchcock-Tulare is fourth in the long jump followed by Joachim in eighth, LaCroix who is third in the triple jump, followed by Schneider in sixth, and Lindsey Geier of North Central in eighth, Sophia Knittel of Ipswich is sixth in the 200, followed by Jochim in eighth, Uttecht is seventh in the 400, Potter County’s Emma Schlachter is sixth in the 800, Autumn Fallis of Highmore-Harrold is sixth in the 1,600, Ana Ratigan of Northwestern is seventh in the shot put, Tatum Luce of Wolsey-Wessington is seventh in the high jump, and Madisyn Gellhaus of Ipswich is eighth in the 3,200.

Other area relay squads among the leaders are Potter County which is third in the 1,600-meter, Herreid-Selby Area which is fourth in the 400-meter, fifth in the 800-meter and sixth in the sprint medley, Wolsey-Wessington which is fourth in the sprint medley and sixth in the 800-meter, Warner which is fifth in the 3,200 followed by Ipswich in sixth and Northwestern in seventh, and Aberdeen Christian which is eighth in the 400-meter.
