Aberdeen Central has a new statewide leader among Class AA track and field athletes this week.
Jaidyn Forsyth took over the top spot in the girls’ pole vault following a vault of 12 feet during the Eastern South Dakota Conference meet last weekend.
Forsyth joins three other Golden Eagles atop open events this week. Kyson Fayant continues to lead the boys’ 300-meter intermediate hurdles, while Mya Arampatzis continues to set the standard in the girls’ 110-meter hurdles, and Taryn Hermansen tops the girls’ shot put.
Other Central girls among the individual leaders include Gracie Rife who is fifth in the both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash, and Espynn Kuhfeld who is fifth in the 300 hurdles. The Golden Eagles are fourth in the 400-meter relay, and eighth in the 800-meter relay.
On the boys’ side, Fayant is seventh in the 110-meter high hurdles, Joran Foss is third in the shot put and sixth in the discus, and Carson Urlacher is seventh in the 3,200-meter run. The Golden Eagles are seventh in the 1,600-meter relay.
