BROOKINGS – While Brookings found the gaps, Aberdeen Central had difficulty coming up with the big hit Tuesday afternoon.

The Bobcats rapped out seven extra-base hits and turned back any potential Central rally on the way to a 10-0 Eastern South Dakota Conference softball victory.

While the Golden Eagles managed just one hit in the five-inning game, they did have numerous base runners thanks to a walk, a double and also a Brookings error.

“We did a good job of getting on base and making plays defensively,” said Central coach Cassidy Neer. “We just struggled hitting with runners in scoring position.”

The Golden Eagles had a runner in scoring position in the second inning and also the fourth when Addyson Keller produced a two-out double for Central’s only hit of the game.

Meanwhile, Brookings had six doubles and home run among its 10 hits in the contest. The Bobcats had four doubles and a home run during a seven-run fourth inning to break open a tight game.

Central hosts Watertown at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Koehler Hall of Fame Field.

“If we can continue to stay clean on defense and start capitalizing with runners in scoring position, we can compete with anyone,” Neer said.
