Last year on Sept. 9, 2023: Arizona State starting senior right tackle Emmit Bohle will miss the rest of the football season with a lower leg injury. The former Selby and Northern State standout left the field on a cart with an air cast on his lower left leg during the Sun Devils’ 27-15 loss to Oklahoma State.
10 years ago on Sept. 11, 2014: Sioux Falls O’Gorman 6-foot-4 senior outside hitter and Creighton-bound Taryn Kloth was ranked as the 18th-best recruit in the 2015 class by Prep-Volleyball.com. Kloth competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics in beach volleyball.
20 years ago on Sept. 11, 2004: Three games into the coach Ed Meierkort era at USD, the undefeated Coyotes’ football team has outscored its opponents 156-25.
30 years ago on Sept. 9, 1994: Chris Curtis scored all four touchdowns as Ipswich handled Leola-Edmunds Central 28-0.
40 years ago on Sept. 8, 1984: Christy Hiedeman is playing seventh-grade football for Watertown this fall.
50 years ago on Sept. 14, 1974: Former Rapid City Central multi-sport star Steve Withorne kicked a 41-yard field goal with 37 seconds left to give Dakota Wesleyan a 15-14 win over Sioux Falls College.
