MITCHELL – Dimock-Emery scored five two-out runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to cap an improbable 8-7 walk-off victory over the Castlewood Ravens during the State B Amateur Baseball Tournament Sunday night.
After a pair of strikeouts to start the frame, three staight walks loaded the bases for the Raptors. Jason Schmidt delivered a full-count two-run single to cut the four-run deficit in half. An error in the outfield led to two more runs to tie the contest. That set the stage for Sam Pischke, who produced the game-winning single on a 3-2 pitch to end the game.
Pischke finished with four hits to lead Dimock-Emery, which faces Larchwood, Iowa in the next round on Thursday.
Castlewood jumped in front to start the game on Kegan Tvedt’s RBI double. After Dimock-Emery scored three times in the bottom of the second, Castlewood tied the game on a run-producing double by Alex Gauer and fielder’s choice in the fifth.
The Ravens then tacked on two runs in the sixth when Gauer drove in another run with a single, while the second run scored on a wild pitch, and two more runs in the eighth on a Peyton Garber sacrifice fly and another wild pitch.
Gus Steiger had three hits to top Castlewood, while Gauer and Blayne Schliesman each added a pair.
