REDFIELD – Redfield faced a four-run deficit before it even batted, but quickly erased that and moved on to a 14-9 high school baseball victory over Elkton on Wednesday night.

The Muskrats plated five runs in the bottom of the first inning and tacked on three more in the second inning on the way to the win.

Erik Salmen ignited the Redfield offense with a lead-off home run over the leftfield fence and the hosts were off and running after that. The Muskrats pieced together four singles in a row, including an RBI hit from Noah Johnson and soon owned a one-run lead.

Redfield added three more runs in the second inning as Johnson drove in another run, and then put the game on ice with four runs in the sixth inning for a 14-6 advantage. Conner Zens had a two-run triple to highlight that frame.

Meanwhile, Kevin Weller struck out 10 batters in six innings on the mound for Redfield.

Micah Zastrow had three hits to lead the Muskrats. Elijah Morrissette, Hunter Binger and Chase Odland each had two. Johnson finished with three RBI, and Zens drove in a pair.
