BRYANT – Groton exploded for 21 runs in the first inning on the way to a 34-1 win over Oldham-Ramona-Rutland in high school baseball action on Sunday afternoon.

Colby Dunker and Gavin Englund each belted three-run home runs in the frame, while Dillon Abeln added a three-run double, and Dunker plated two more on a double.

Brevin Fliehs had three hits, knocked in four and scored five times, Dunker finished with two hits, six RBI and scored three runs, Englund added three hits, knocked in six and scored three times, Bradin Althoff had two hits, drove in three and scored four runs, and Logan Ringgeberg also had three hits as Groton pounded out 18 hits in all.

Groton 8, Hamlin 1

BRYANT – Groton scored five runs in the first three frames to fuel an 8-1 win over Hamlin.

Colby Dunker drove in a run with a single in a two-run first inning, three walks preceded a bases-loaded walk and a fielder’s choice in a two-run second, and Carter Simon homered to lead off the third inning.

Hamlin got on the board on Kelby Hauck’s sacrifice fly.

Gavin Englund drove in a run as Groton scored three more times in the seventh.

Dunker drove in a pair of runs in the victory.

Watson Grantham and Jyler Tharaldsen each had two hits for Hamlin.

BRYANT – Hamlin scored 14 runs in the opening inning of a 15-0 victory over Oldham-Ramona-Rutland.

The hosts had five hits in the frame, including two-run singles from Gavin Maag and Evan Schultz. Ted Smith also drove in a run with a single. There were also nine walks and two hit batters in the frame.

Smith finished with two hits and two RBI.

Howard 2, Redfield 0

REDFIELD – Howard scored a pair of runs without the aid of hit en route to a 2-0 win over Redfield.

The Tigers scratched across a run in the third inning on an error, and added an insurance run in the sixth on a passed ball.

A trio of Howard pitchers combined to strikeout 15 batters.

Eli Morrissette had Redfield’s lone hit and struck out five batters over six innings.
