Dohrer competing in national golf tourney

PINEHURST, N.C. – Aberdeen’s Micah Dohrer is among eight South Dakota golfers who are competing in the National High School Golf Association National Invitational Tournament today through Wednesday at Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, N.C. The invitation only event features the top high golfers in the nation.

Dohrer, who recently graduated from Aberdeen Roncalli, qualified for the prestigious tourney by winning the individual Class A state championship last fall. He will compete for Dakota Wesleyan this coming season.

Dohrer will tee off this morning in a foursome that includes Jack Flittner of Boca Raton, Fla.; John Coyner of Hinsdale, Ill.; and George Fahey of Portland, Maine.

Other South Dakota golfers in the event include Kaden Rylance of Watertown, Lance Christenson of Little Wound, and Andrew Dystra, Brendan Van Beek, Eli Anema, Brodie VanDenBrink and Kaleb Jost who all golfed for Sioux Falls Christian.
