Castlewood tops the Class B field in the first Prep Media basketball polls of the season. The Warriors received eight out of possible 14 first-place votes.

Meanwhile, defending state champion Hamlin is rated second in the Class A boys’ poll with six first-place votes, trailing only Sioux Falls Christian who the Chargers defeated in overtime in the title contest last season.

Aberdeen Christian and Leola-Frederick are in the receiving votes category in Class B. Mitchell is the top rated team in Class AA.

In the girls’ polls, Hamlin is tied for third in Class A, while Sisseton is receiving votes. Winner is in the receiving votes category in Class B.

O’Gorman is the top-rated team in Class AA, despite second-rated Brandon Valley receiving six more first-place votes.

Other top-rated teams include Vermillion in Class A and Centerville in Class B.
